Frankel Watch 2021: Inspiral Makes Successful 2yo Debut for Cheveley Park Stud

Frankel-sired Inspiral, trained by John & Thady Gosden made an exciting debut at Newmarket in the Close Brothers Maiden Fillies' Stakes over 7f.

This bay daughter of Frankel out of a debut-winning mare [Starscope] who raced eight times in her career and runner-up in the 2012 Qipco 1000 Guineas Stakes (Group 1) when a long way behind the impressive Homecoming Queen. She had a highest official rating of 110 and total earnings of £158,372.

Inspiral, a March foal, owned and bred by Cheveley Park Stud, was fancied in the betting at odds of 2/1.

After being towards the rear of the field, she made headway on the outer 3f out, prominent when pushed along 2f out, chased leader inside final furlong, ran on well and led towards finish. A fine ride by Robert Havlin to win by one-and-a-half-lengths from Ardbraccan, trained by Richard Hannon, who was promoted to second after being hampered by Calm Skies who wandered in the closing stages.

Thady Gosden, joint-trainer said: ''She will get a mile in time and we may well go small steps with her to give her more experience. They went steady enough early on and she finished off nicely.''

Good luck to connections.

In a follow-up to the original post, it's great to see the progress of Inspiral who closed the Flat turf season 2021 with four victories. Without doubt, she is the class act for Frankel fillies in the UK, culminating in a ready victory of the bet365 Fillies' Mile.

A truly impressive formative season and leading Classic hope.
