Son of Frankel Triple Time Wins Ascendant Stakes Listed Race for Kevin Ryan (4th September)

Triple Time proved a star turn for this seasons crop of Frankel two-year-olds with an authoritative win at Haydock this afternoon.

Kevin Ryan's charge won the Betfair Exchange Ascendant Stakes Listed Race in good style beating Godolphin's hot favourite Hafit who started odds-on after winning on debut. Triple Time, racing in the familiar silks of owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, was pushed out to win by one-and-a-half lengths.

Andrea Atzeni gave this progressive colt an educated ride sitting in the rear after dwelling at the start and taking a keen hold, but soon making his move at the furlong pole to test the opposition by leading and increasing the tempo, facing challengers at the two pole before keeping on strongly to win in good style.

Triple Time has raced four times to date, making his debut back in June at Leicester when contesting a hot Maiden Stakes, won by John Gosden's Dhabab, finishing a running-on third over 6f. He ran a sterling race on his second start at Haydock when stepping up a furlong to Mr McCann. Then thrashing his opponents when returning to the course, stepping up to one mile, winning impressively by nine-and-a-half lengths.

Today's victory detailed one of the better Frankel two-year-olds for this present season.

This home bred is out of a three-time winning mare, Reem Three, who was trained by Luca Cumain in 2005 - 2006, racing just eight times and Listed placed.

Kevin Ryan quoted: I was very worried about the ground but Sheikh Mohammed Obaid is not afraid of getting beaten and he said let's find out now. And TRIPLE TIME has handled it. We'll have to discuss but he's done everything he needed to this year, he's identified himself as a very talented horse. He's going to be very exciting for next year. Ten furlongs is probably as far as he wants to go and we think of him as a Guineas horse.
